Reading 8 Wakefield 1
Reading banged out 11 hits and Scott Tully pitched 6 strong innings as Reading improved its record to 6-3. Reading failed to score in the 1st inning for the first time this year, while Wakefield did score and had a 1-0 lead after one inning. But Reading came up with 3 runs in the 2nd on a single by Scott Tully, sacrifice bunt by Rob DiLoreto, single by Steve Roelser, a 2-run double by Chris Ehl, a single by Ryann Wynns, and a successful 1st and 3rd play.
Reading's pitcher escaped a jam in the 2nd and Reading held the 3-1 lead until the top of the fourth when Reading scored two more times. DiLoreto was hit by a pitch and Roesler bunted him to 2nd. With two outs, Garrett Colantino singled to left, scoring DiLoreto. Singles by Wynns and Mike O'Leary produced one more run. Tully settled down, allowing just two baserunners over the next four innings, while Reading tacked on two more runs. Sean O'Neill doubled, Tully reached on an error that scored O'Neill, and Ehl singled home Tully. One more run came across in the 6th when Liam Kenneally singled, stole 2nd, and scored on O'Neill's single.
Garrett Colantino came on to pitch a scoreless 7th.
This capped a good week for Reading who was 3-0, outscoring its opponents, 31-1.
